Longview News-Journal

With roots stretching back to 1871, the Longview News-Journal is the East Texas flagship of M. Roberts Media, the once Victoria-based media group that owns and operates the News-Journal, daily Marshall News Messenger and the twice-weekly Panola Watchman newspapers and websites in East Texas.

Today’s News-Journal is a successor of the Longview News and counts James Hogg, later a Texas governor, and Carl Estes, a Longview civic figure, among its earliest independent publishers. The newspaper today circulates its print edition in 11 East Texas counties to about 25,000 subscribers daily. It updates breaking news around the clock on web and mobile sites at news-journal.com.

In addition to producing the daily News-Journal, the Longview location is the centralized news, advertising, printing and circulation site for all Texas Community Media newspapers and websites in East Texas. Together, the daily and weekly newspapers, along with their online products, reach more than 300,000 consumers each week.

The News-Journal and the related newspapers and websites returned to family ownership when they were purchased in 2012 by Texas Community Media from ASP Westward, which had acquired the News-Journal in 2009 from Cox Newspapers.
