The beginnings of what will become Videoscope go back to 1974. At the time, the amateur video circle of the House of Youth of Rochefort realizes small reports which are diffused in various rooms of the entity.In 1977, at the initiative of Minister Henri-François Van Aal, Videoscope will be one of the first "community television". Canal Zoom in Gembloux, TEAC in Charleroi, RTC in Liège, Videoscope in Rochefort and Notélé in Tournai benefit from the momentum of recognition of the Ministry of Culture. They are more a part of lifelong education than of a real journalistic approach.Videoscope is defined as a community television made by people and for people. It is, therefore, a question of putting a material at the disposal of amateurs so that they fulfill three missions: the local information, the permanent education and the participative programs.May 1977, the first emission of Videoscope is diffused on the cable. She paints a portrait of the 21 municipal councilors elected following the recent merger of the communes of Grand Rochefort. At that time, Vidéoscope did not yet have its own channel and "borrows" those of RTL and Télé 2 at off-peak hours.The image in black and white flickers, the studio is housed in a tent of the Red Cross, the animators and technicians are simple lovers of the light video. In short, it's the reign of DIY and the resourcefulness. 4,000 viewers can follow Videoscope's programs.
