Montana Magazine was founded in 1970 as "Montana West: Magazine of the Northern Rockies."Now, almost five decades years later, it's the largest and oldest privately owned Montana-based magazine in the state. Along with showcasing the state's landscapes, scenery, and wildlife through its stunning photography, the six yearly issues of Montana Magazine try to tell the stories of the people who make the Last Best Place their home. Rick Graetz is the founding father of Montana Magazine, which became the magazine’s official name in the mid-1970s.Graetz founded the magazine when few regional magazines existed that focused on the northern Great Plains and Rocky Mountains. Montana Magazine is published bi-monthly for January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August, September/October and November/December. The magazine is sent to subscribers in every Montana county, every U.S. state and more than 12 foreign countries.
