Morsø Folkeblad was published for the first time in 1877. The newspaper was founded by local initiators in the effort to gather opposition to Estrup's Higher Government, which with provisional finance laws maintained power against the majority in the Folketing. The newspaper was thus opposed to the only daily newspaper on Mors, Morsø Newspaper, which was associated with Right. Since then, the island also got a radical and a social-democratic newspaper, but since 1971, Morsø Folkeblad has been the area's only local newspaper.
