Radio Alma, as we know it today, was born in March 1986. It was the restructuring of the first frequency plan and the stoppage of the station, which pushed five young people from the emigration to take over. asbl and to develop a new project for a pluralistic and independent radio station, the main part of which, in addition to French, would be broadcast in Spanish, Greek, in Italian and Portuguese. For nearly nine years, Radio Alma was unable to transmit, due to lack of available frequencies. It was the only radio recognized by the French Community without frequency. And it was only after many adventures and administrative procedures, through a short period of pirate broadcast, that the station was able to reconnect with its listeners.
