Rocksprings Record

The Texas Mohair Weekly was established in 1893 in Rocksprings the second year after the town was designated county seat of Edwards County, but it had five other names: Rocksprings Rustler, Edwards County Leader, Edwards County Standard, Edwards County News and Rocksprings Record. On April 12, 1927, a tornado struck the town, killing one-tenth of the population and destroying the newspaper press bed and files. In 1936 the paper changed size to tabloid and the name became The Texas Mohair Weekly, planning to concentrate more on ranch news, particularly the Angora goat industry. The paper remained tabloid for only a short time. Today Carolyn and O.D. Anderson own the newspaper.
