Roots has been in existence since September 2011. It is the only independent natural history of the Netherlands and Belgium. Roots pays a lot of attention to hiking in Dutch and Flemish nature, nature photography, animals and beautiful places in the Netherlands and Belgium, but also beyond. Birds are an important subject for the magazine, so in addition to Roots there has been a Roots Bird magazine since 2015, which appears (for the time being) twice a year. In addition to the magazine, Roots also publishes a Nature Agenda, a Scheurkalender and books, such as a book about birds of prey in Northwest Europe, a walking guide with the (by Roots developed) longest nature trail in the Netherlands and a photography book for beginning nature photographers.
