Sarasota Herald-Tribune

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune was founded in 1925. Today, more than 90 years later, our company has transformed from a newspaper to a diversified media company known as the Herald-Tribune Media Group. The HTMG’s mission is to be the most trusted and valued source of news and information in the market we serve. From our state-of-the-art headquarters in downtown Sarasota, the HTMG offers the most comprehensive local daily reporting in the region through traditional and digital news products, advancing our role as the information leader in Southwest Florida.

In 2016, the HTMG’s Investigation Team Editor Michael Braga was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for the Herald-Tribune/Tampa Bay Times collaborative investigation into Florida’s mental health hospitals after suffering through $100 million in budget cuts.

In 2011, the HTMG’s Paige St. John was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for her coverage of the state of homeowners insurance in Florida.

The 2011 Pulitzer recognition was the first win for the HTMG but the third nomination in four years. The newspaper was also recognized as a finalist for a Pulitzer in 2010 for its investigation of real estate flipping fraud and again in 2008 for Broken Trust, an expose of teacher abuse of students throughout Florida.
