Schweizerische Schachzeitung is the official organ of the Swiss Chess Federation.The first issue was published in October 1900, making the SSZ one of the oldest published chess magazines yet. The SSZ appeared eleven times until 2009, since then eight times a year with a circulation of 8,000 copies and covers in about 40-50 printed pages. Among other things, it contains sections on correspondence chess and chess composition. Since the SSZ is a Swiss journal, it contains articles in German as well as in French and Italian. The editor-in-chief is Markus Angst, one of the chess arbitrators in the 2004 World Championship match between Vladimir Kramnik and Péter Lékó.
