star of life is the magazine for the Swiss rescue service.  In Switzerland, the star of life is the official magazine of the Vereinigung Rettungssanitäter Schweiz (VRS).

It is subordinate to the board of the VRS and is headed by a chief editor, who heads a small commission. It takes on all rescue service topics and especially the rescue scene Switzerland and lives partly on the contributions of committed members.

The magazine star of life was first published in 1991 and today appears regularly on a quarterly basis. Since 1994, Ernst Hilfiker, full-time editor at Zürcher Oberländer, is editor-in-chief of the star of life.

Since the beginning of 2006, the star of life has been printed in color and published in two languages. In the autumn of 2014, the magazine's design was gently reworked and has since appeared in a modern and fresh look.
