The responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in science and higher education is a topic of widespread debate and concern, especially with the arrival of ChatGPT and other similar tools. In this context, the University of Lisbon shares important knowledge and considerations with its community, including teachers, researchers, technical and administrative staff and students.

Banning the use of AI would be ineffective. Rather, we need to adopt approaches so that these tools are used effectively and appropriately, in alignment with the mission, objectives and values ​​of the University.
