Mashable: The ministry has issued a circular that reduces working time by two hours

Private sector employees in UAE will have working hours reduced for Ramadan.

The United Arab Emirates recently announces reduced working hours for private-sector employees during the holy month of Ramadan.

On Monday, the UAE’s Ministry declared the official work timings for private sector employees for Ramadan and announced that the number of work hours will be reduced.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in UAE has issued a circular that cuts the working time of private sector employees by two hours.

Taking to Twitter, on Monday, March 13, 2023, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced “a reduction of 2 working hours per day for all employees” in the private sector during the holy month of Ramadan in the United Arab Emirates.

The governing body also issued a circular in this regard and said that this announcement is in accordance with the “requirements and nature of their work” and that companies may “apply flexible or remote work patterns” during the days of Ramadan that will be within the limits of the daily working hours.

As per Khaleej Times, the working hours for the federal sector workers were announced earlier.

However, private sector employees typically work for eight hours a day or 48 hours a week and in the holy month, the working hours will get reduced to six hours a day, or 36 hours a week.

Moreover, the ministry said that any additional working hours may be considered overtime, for which the workplaces should pay the workers extra.

As per the new Ramadan circular, the official working hours for ministries and federal authorities have also changed. From Monday to Thursday, they will now be working from 9 am to 2.30 pm and from 9 am to 12 pm on Friday.
