The four-week fitness program is free of cost and will offer 380 free training sessions in 12 public parks and urban spaces across the capital.

Calling all the fitness enthusiasts in the emirates, a new fitness program aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles through exercise and activity has been launched in the capital city of Abu Dhabi.

The program called ‘Active Parks’ has been launched by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in collaboration with the Department of Community Development which will offer a free fitness training program.

Starting on December 30, 2021, and running until January 26, the four-week fitness program is free of cost and will offer 380 free training sessions in 12 public parks and urban spaces across the capital. The program is open to all who are aged above 15 and are keen on being fit.

The Active Parks programme aims to remove barriers so anyone can be physically active and provides an opportunity for residents to explore the green spaces in their communities by offering a diverse mix of accessible daytime and after-work fitness classes.

Taking places at the open spaces of the park, the participating parks are Khalifa City Park 3, Sheikha Fatima Park, Dolphin Park, MBZ Park, Al Khaleej Al Arabi park, Electra Park and Al Shamkha Park 4 in Abu Dhabi, Madinat Zayed, Al Ruwais Park 2 and Al Marfa National Park in Al Dhafra Region; and Al Jahili and Al Towayya Parks in Al Ain.

Various sessions like DanceFit, RunFit, boot camps, CrossFit and yoga will be a part of the program, along with special classes for people of determination as well.

Through the program, the authorities aim to encourage citizens and residents across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain & Al Dhafra communities to come together and pursue active, outdoor lifestyles by utilising the Emirate’s diverse array of public parks and urban green spaces.
