To promote Arabic culture on an international level, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, and the Institut du Monde Arabe, aka Arab World Institute, have signed an agreement at Louvre Abu Dhabi, on Monday.

According to the contract, the Arabic Language Centre, and Institut du Monde Arabe will team up on a range of initiatives that include strengthening the International Certificate of Proficiency in Arabic.

Launched in 2018 by the Institut du Monde Arabe, the internationally recognised certificate evaluates proficiency in modern standard Arabic and is granted to individuals and organisations who pass a rigorous language exam.

The language centre will work with the Alliance Francaise, which administers the tests in Abu Dhabi and Dubai centres as a part of the partnership and will promote the certification and make a record of annual applicants that include proficiency levels and share relevant learnings.

By collaborating with publications, they will include a series of reports examining how the Arabic language is used in France and Europe.

The agreement will result in tangible steps towards elevating the status of the Arabic language internationally. Aligned with the UAE leadership’s directives to unite efforts and work collaboratively towards further developing the Arabic language.
