The Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi announced a new camping and picnic site—Al Wathba Lake Camp.

A summer breeze, a picnic basket and the company of friends and family, who doesn’t like a pleasant lakeside picnic? Well, to cater to the needs, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi announced a new camping and picnic site—Al Wathba Lake Camp.

Enthusiasts of camping or picnicking in the open will be able to enjoy this multi-purpose camping site that offers a naturalistic camping and picnic site surrounding a man-made lake, and a cycling track.

Nestled amidst nature, the new spot features 13 separate campsites with a view on the lake or in the desert and can accommodate up to 120 people. The place can also allow tent setups and recreational vehicles (RVs) to enjoy the view.

Additionally, the site has 24 picnic sites with dedicated areas for barbecues, and 3,000 square metres of recreation and gathering space for over 500 visitors per day.

The recreational and sporting activities include 1,400 metres of walking and running path around the lake, a new 1,200-metre-long cycling track, a rental centre for activities, 2 volleyball courts, and 7 playgrounds. Not just that, it also has a pontoon walk, and two observation decks to enjoy the panoramic views.

Offering something more, commercial activities and utilities such as food trucks, cafes, rental services will also be hosted in the times to come. Basic amenities like parking, a first aid unit, and restrooms have also been provided at the new site.
