Mashable: Cristiano Ronaldo keeps making history both on-field and off-field. The Al Nassr star has topped Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid athletes for the third consecutive year and the fifth time in his career, leaving behind his rival Lionel Messi.

Following his move to Saudi Arabia, where he joined Al Nassr, Ronaldo's estimated total earnings are around $275 million.

The Portuguese superstar increased his income by $15 million through off-field endorsements as well as lucrative sponsorship deals backed by his massive social media following: 939 million followers in total. Ronaldo is on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

For the uninitiated, Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel, 'UR Cristiano', in August last year. Though he was late, it didn't stop him from setting new records. His channel achieved one million subscribers in just 90 minutes, surpassing the previous record held by MrBeast.

Apart from Ronaldo, Forbes' top-earning athletes list also includes Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who is in the second place with earnings of $156 million.

Boxer Tyson Fury claimed third place with $146 million. He is followed by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is in fourth place with earnings of $137 million. Joining the list is Argentine star Lionel Messi, who is in fifth place with $135 million. Los Angeles Lakers forward with earnings of $133.8 million.

Coming back to Ronaldo, he is one of the most successful football players. As per reports, his net worth is said to be around $800 million.
