Smart urban spaces, equipped with state-of-the-art technology are mushrooming all over the gulf, as the world witnesses the Middle East's shift towards the future. Following a push by governments to enhance public service infrastructures with AI and digital platforms, residents have also opened doors for innovation to occupy an important place in their lives.

Gadgets like smart metres, along with intelligent appliances and virtual assistants have paved the way for Arab households to become high-tech. But beyond recreation and convenience, the need to feel secure within four walls remains a priority, and a Bahrain-based telco has rolled out an effective solution to address this requirement.

The 'Home Security' system rolled out by Batelco offers high definition footage of the surroundings to homeowners, with night vision for effective surveillance round the clock. A video doorbell similar to gadgets recently unveiled by global brands in the region, also facilitates two-way interaction between visitors and the residents.

All of these features are also accessible on the move through a smartphone app, so that people can rest assured about the safety of smart homes even when they are away. Unlimited storage capacity via cloud services, provides swift access to visual data at any given time.

The online platform linked to Batelco's solution isn't just developed for monitoring video footage from a distance, but homeowners can even lock or unlock doors with a couple of taps on their smartphone. The firm has also made sure that the entire mechanism is easy to install, and allows residents to customise their security ecosystem, by controlling all devices from a single platform.

Rolled out for the Island kingdom by its telecom major, the smart safety tool is similar to solutions rolled out in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates by global giants like Ring and Bosch. Thanks to these, residents of futuristic households can also program computer vision to spot unusual behaviour in the vicinity.
