Making the best of both worlds of art and food, Dubai’s Oud Metha-based restaurant has come up with a unique idea of dining as well as enjoying some art.
Art connoisseurs and foodies of Japanese cuisine can find their heaven at a Japanese fusion restaurant, Taiko Dubai as they showcase an exclusive exhibition of artwork from the late, great David Bowie.
The Oud Metha-based restaurant, in collaboration with Masterpiece Dubai, is offering guests the opportunity to savour flavourful sushi rolls and other Japanese delicacies while admiring The Arcane Card Series—a collection of Christmas cards that was comprehended by the Space Oddity singer-actor in 1975.
Inspired by the five major tarot cards, in Los Angeles, November 1975, the singer-painter-actor, gifted the first edition of 50 these works only to his family and friends, that were done on Japanese paper. Some of them are presented by the Masterpiece Gallery in London.
David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie, was an English singer-songwriter and actor who loved art. His paintings show a knowledgeable approach to art, influenced by Frank Auerbach, David Bomberg, Francis Bacon, Francis Picabia.
The exhibition on display at Taiko Dubai will showcase five silkscreen prints representing lovers, death, the star, moon and earth.
Not just that, to make the event more devoted, Taiko Dubai’s mixologists have created a number of mixed drinks inspired by the music collections of the artist, including Star Man and Rebel Rebel.
The exhibition which is free of cost will be on display till August 8 and guests can book a table at the restaurant and enjoy art and food, together.
