Mashable: The soft landing on the Moon will be attempted on August 23
The Indian spacecraft Chandryaan-3 has sent new photographs of the lunar far side of the Moon ahead of its much-anticipated landing attempt.
India’s lander module will try to touch down softly on the Moon on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
On Monday, August 21, 2023, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) shared images of the dark side of the Moon on X, formerly Twitter.
Sharing the images on social media, ISRO confirmed the images were of a “lunar far side area” that was captured by the Lander Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera. The organisation revealed that the camera “assists in locating a safe landing area” without boulders or deep trenches and is developed by ISRO at SAC (Space Applications Centre).

India will become the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat following the success of the United States, Russia, and China. However, the Asian nation will be the only country in the world to attempt a landing on the lunar South Pole.
