Dentsu has named its leader in a year that would be important for the Japan-based Holding Company’s future growth. Dentsu Inc has appointed Toshihiro Yamamoto as its new President and CEO. Mr Yamamoto replaces Tadashi Ishii, who had resigned from the company in December 2016, following a year of several controversies at Dentsu including a staff member’s suicide and an overcharging scandal.
Mr Yamamoto has been an old hand at Dentsu, where he had begun work in 1981. Hitherto he has been the Senior Vice-President at the company, and will assume his new role next week.
“My mission is to re-establish trust in Dentsu in Japan, and build a sustainable growth path for the long term. I believe it will become a reality with the improvements we are making to create a more flexible working environment where our diverse talents will thrive to help create value for our clients and professional fulfillment for our people,” Mr Yamamoto said.
