Mashable: Emaar has announced a few rules in order to maintain order.
You've probably heard by now that the Burj Khalifa will host a record-breaking firework and laser show on New Year's Eve.
If you're excited to witness the spectacular show, keep in mind that you will be joining thousands of other visitors and locals. Emaar has announced a few rules in order to maintain order.
Here are a few things you should keep in mind while planning your evening:
It's first come, first served.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Burj Khalifa show and the fireworks from the streets of Downtown Dubai, however, please be aware that seating is limited and available spots are given to those who arrive first.
To put it another way, you are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Parking, Transport, and Road Closures
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority issues closure announcements each year to handle traffic and crowds.
Emaar has announced that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed from around 6 p.m. that evening. Visitors with a hotel or restaurant reservation that includes parking are required to arrive there before this hour. Continue reading to find out more about Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard's various entry points.
Parking is available at Dubai Mall, but it will unavoidably close once it is full. Come early if you want to park here. No more entries will be permitted after the surrounding road closures for parking access are in place.
Taxis heading to this location won't be able to reach Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard once the road closures have been implemented.
Roads will reopen between 1 am to 2 am, although the exact time will be determined by Dubai Police and the RTA based on the situation.
Cars that are parked at hotels, homes, and the food and beverage outlets in Dubai Mall and Downtown Dubai will be free to leave only after the restrictions are lifted.
The Dubai Mall metro station is closed over New Year's Eve for a couple of hours every year. The Dubai Mall metro station may close this year at any time between 2 pm and 10 pm, depending on the mall's capacity.
