Mashable: The Iranian measures at a height of 65.24 cm

On 13 December 2022, Iranian Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh set a new Guinness record in Dubai.

Iran’s Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh who weighs 6kg is now World’s shortest man alive.

Aged 21, Iranian Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh measures at a height of 65.24 cm.

Verified by the Guinness World Records (GWR), Afshin has broken the record for being the world's shortest man with a height of 65.24 centimeters and with a weight of just 6kg.

The Iranian has broken the record of the previous shortest man Edward Nino Hernandez from Bogota in Columbia. He is 2.7 inch shorter than the 36-year-old previous record holder.

As per Khaleej Times, the Guinness World Records (GWR) officials awarded the certificate to Afshin during an event that was held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Media City.

“It makes me very happy and privileged to hold this esteemed honor. It is magical. The next morning you wake up, and you are famous all over,” said Afshin.

The official Instagram account of GWR shared a video and wrote, “Afshin is the fourth-shortest man ever verified by Guinness World Records. He was flown to our Dubai office where measurements were taken three times over the course of 24 hours, resulting in the accurate record height.”

Afshin was born in a remote village located in Bukan County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. His parents learned about his condition when he was just two years old. The Iranian can speak both Kurdish and Persian, using the Farsi dialect.

As the shortest man, Afshin had to be monitored every minute and he could not attend school and struggled with education.
