Mashable: Madame Tussauds has unveiled Benazir Bhutto’s wax figure

Madame Tussauds in Dubai recently unveiled a wax statue of Benazir Bhutto.

The wax figure of the late Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister has now found its new home in the Emirates.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, a wax figure of the late former Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto was unveiled at the Madame Tussauds Museum, Bluewaters Island in the UAE city of Dubai.

According to The Siasat Daily, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of Pakistan who is also the son of the late PM attended the unveiling event in Dubai during his visit to the Emirates.

The former PM’s wax statue was relocated from London to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The wax figure sees the former PM of Pakistan dressed in the same outfit which she wore when she was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took to the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, and confirmed his attendance at the unveiling ceremony of the wax “statue of the first Pakistani personality.”

He added he feels “pride and humility” to see the wax figure being commemorated at Madame Tussauds in Dubai, of his mother, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari believes that the statue will inspire the upcoming generations and remind them of the “enduring resonance of the values” his mother lived and fought for. He also added that his family and all Pakistanis are grateful to Madame Tussauds Dubai for honoring the “memory and legacy” of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Benazir Bhutto created history by becoming the first woman to lead a Muslim-majority country. She was elected the PM of Pakistan in the year 1988 and held office until 1990. She was again re-elected in the year 1993.

On December 27, 2007, Benazir Bhutto was reportedly assassinated in a subsequent attack in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
