Khaleej Times: Oman Air on Sunday announced a new direct flight route connecting Dubai and Salalah, commencing on July 3, 2026, to coincide with the start of the Khareef (monsoon) season.
With three weekly year-round flights, this initiative aims to enhance air connectivity to the Dhofar Governorate and expand travel options for UAE and Omani residents and international visitors.
The launch of this route responds to growing demand for travel between Salalah and Dubai and underscores Oman Air’s ongoing commitment to developing its domestic network and strengthening regional air corridors across the GCC. Bookings for the new Dubai-Salalah route will open on Monday, February 16, 2026, ahead of the route's launch on July 3, 2026.
The Khareef season officially runs from June 21 to September 20 each year, attracting millions of visitors from the UAE and other Gulf countries. UAE residents, including families, also drive to Salalah to enjoy the lush green mountains and pleasant weather in the Omani city.
“With the increasing demand for flights to and from Salalah, we strive to increase our seat capacity wherever possible, providing flexible travel options that actively contribute to the growth of tourism and economic activity in the governorate,” said Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air.
Oman’s national carrier said it continued to increase its seat capacity to meet high demand.
In January 2026, the number of seats available to Salalah increased by 20 per cent compared to the previous year. Capacity was also increased by 15 per cent during the autumn season of 2025 to ensure smooth arrivals for visitors during the peak tourist season.
The airline recently launched its first direct (charter) flights between Moscow and Salalah, targeting the growing Russian tourism market. This move is expected to bring more than 7,000 visitors to the governorate, providing significant support to tourism companies and local businesses.
Oman Air also plans to further enhance its flight schedule, including expanding services during the holy month of Ramadan, to offer guests greater flexibility and a wider range of travel options throughout the year.
