Mashable: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved remarkable earnings of Dh69.137 million from its most recent open auction of vehicle license plates.
The auction took place on Saturday, October 12, at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
The 116th edition of the auction featured a selection of 90 unique plates, which included combinations of two to five digits and utilized the codes AA, L, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z.

The top bid was noted for the license plate number AA17, which was sold for Dh8.02 million. This was succeeded by plate number Y1000, which achieved a price of Dh4.55 million.
Additionally, plate number V96 garnered Dh4.1 million, while plate number AA333 was sold for Dh3.01 million. These decorative plates frequently hold personal value, symbolizing significant events, occasions, or milestones in the lives of their owners.
The sale of number plates incurs a value-added tax of five percent. Each bidder is required to possess a traffic file in Dubai and provide a security cheque for Dh25,000 made out to the RTA. Additionally, bidders must pay a non-refundable auction fee of Dh120.
