Tackling climate change has been on the UAE radar for quite some now and one of the new UAE business centres has come forward to do their part to be in tandem with the country’s climate change tackling policies.
Niche –ICD Brookfield Place in downtown Dubai’s multi-use community space has come forward to encourage the community to go green through a series of art and design projects.
Niche aims to create a platform of exchange between tenants and the community on a variety of important topics through talks, wellness sessions, educational workshops, and engaging activations.
By launching the ‘Breaking the Plastic Habit’ scheme, they have been urging Dubai residents to find ways to reduce their use of plastic products. The programme has been launched to remove single-use plastic from ICD Brookfield Place and encourage our community to use refillable bottles.
The business centre, for the campaign, has collaborated with two influential artists, a Lebanese-Dubai-based illustrator, Nourie Flayhan, and Christine Wilson of Peahead, a Dubai-based eco-friendly and upcycling artist.
Flayhan, an advocate for sustainability and environmental protection and known for her quirky animations and illustrations, has worked on the branding for the campaign, whereas Wilson created a large art installation using plastic bottles – some from ICD Brookfield Place.
Wilson will also conduct a workshop in Dubai and will be hosting upcycling workshops for tenants in Niche as part of the campaign. Through her workshops, she wants to bring unnecessary plastic back into full view. Through the bold decision of ICD Brookfield Place’s waste to be put on full display, she intends to bring out the habit of breaking the plastic habit.
