Saudi Arabia witnessed the crescent moon marking the start of the month of Zul Hijjah on Wednesday.

The private sector will observe a four-day holiday as part of the official Eid Al Adha celebrations, the UAE announced on Thursday.

The holiday will be observed from Friday, July 8 to Monday, July 11, as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

On July 12, work will resume in this sector.

Saudi Arabia witnessed the crescent moon marking the start of the month of Zul Hijjah on Wednesday, June 29. According to the Saudi Supreme Court, the crescent moon for Dhu Al Hijja was sighted by the Tumair Observatory on Wednesday night.

Therefore, the first day of the month was yesterday, June 30.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) had earlier said that the public sector would have a four-day vacation on the same dates.

Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha holidays will be observed from Zul Hijjah 9 to 12, according to the government of the United Arab Emirates' official schedule of public holidays.

The Gregorian calendar's corresponding dates are Friday, July 8, through Monday, July 11.

Muslims buy sheep and goats to sacrifice and then give to the needy as a way of celebrating Eid al-Adha. This annual ritual has its roots in the story of the prophet Abraham, who was asked by God to sacrifice his son Ismaeel as a test of his faith.
