Mashable: UAE astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi has finally entered the International Space Station (ISS).

The Arab world witnessed their very own Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi creating history once again as he entered the International Space Station (ISS) along with his Crew-6 mates.

The Crew-6 safely arrived at the orbiting laboratory after a long journey of more than 24 hours following their liftoff from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida on Thursday morning.

It took SpaceX Crew-6 Dragon Endeavour spacecraft more than a day of time to enter the International Space Station (ISS) which will be their home for the next six months.

Sultan AlNeyadi and his SpaceX Crew-6 team including Nasa astronauts Stephen Bowen, Warren Hoburg, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev were supposed to arrive at the ISS ahead of schedule but it was delayed as an issue occurred in the docking process.

The Crew-5 members who were present at the ISS held a welcome ceremony to celebrate and welcome the new astronauts.

The Emirati astronaut was heard for the first time during the welcoming ceremony held on the ISS shortly after the crew’s arrival.

He thanked his parents, family, the leadership of the UAE and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre for trusting him with this mission. “This is the essence of space exploration,” he added while expressing his happiness, “Go Dragon. Go SpaceX.”
