Local and native plants like the Ghaf, Sidr and Acacia were planted during the drive at the Expo 2020 Dubai Plant Nursery. Planting these native trees was a practical and symbolic step towards raising awareness about the importance of green cover in the region.
“As we celebrate our 25th National Environment Day, we send out a powerful message to the world that collective action is the optimal means of addressing all challenges that come our way in a bid to protect our environment and build a better future,” shared Mariam Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Minister of State for Food Security.
While the Expo 2020 Dubai will conclude by the end of March, National Environment Day activities around the UAE will continue until World Environment Day on June 5.
