The premier Indian tech institute will revolutionise tech education in the Middle East
As a part of the latest trade deal with the UAE, the Indian government will set up its prestigious IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) in the Emirates. Both the nations signed a historic Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The CEPA is expected to boost bilateral trade to $100 million in the next 5 years.
The deal was signed during a virtual summit between Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Indian PM Narendra Modi. The accord will strengthen not just economic ties between the two nations but also open avenues for innovation and technological progress.
With a world class technological institute like the IITs, now the Emiratis including the Indian expats will have more opportunities to explore the frontiers of a world class education in technology and science.
India has 23 IITs spread across the subcontinent. The top IITs are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur, with an unrivalled and historic placement track record. Some of the more illustrious alumni of the IITs are Parag Agrawal the CEO Twitter (IIT Bombay) and Sundar Pichai the CEO of Alphabet and Google (IIT kharagpur).
As a part of the CEPA pact, both the nations have also committed to support clean energy missions and have agreed to set up a joint Hydrogen task force.
