Mashable: Meta has finally delivered the long-awaited WhatsApp application for iPad. The feature was released on Tuesday after being in beta testing for nearly two years. The app allows users to add up to 32 people to video and audio calls, share their screen, and even use Apple Pencil. In addition to this, it brings a bunch of iPadOS multitasking features.
Meta, in its press note, said that the app was one of the “biggest requests” it received from users. The iPad version of WhatsApp brings all the features available on iPhone or Android, but the key addition here is the full-screen view. It displays chats in a view native to tablets, meaning the chat list is displayed on the left while the chat window is present on the right.
WhatsApp’s iPad version is also equipped with features that leverage iPad's multitasking capabilities. This includes Stage Manager, an app management system that stacks together all the open app windows. The one you’re working on stays at the center, while the recently opened apps are placed to the left for easy access.
Another feature, called Split View, has also been incorporated into the app, allowing users to use two apps side by side. WhatsApp said that the app brings support for accessories such as Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.
The new app will keep your WhatsApp data in sync with all the other devices where your account is active. So, you will be able to use WhatsApp independently on iPad without needing to connect it to the iPhone.
The WhatsApp application is live on the App Store for download.
