JCDecaux SA (Euronext Paris: DEC), the number one outdoor advertising company worldwide, announced today its collaboration with Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority for the installation of an innovative and engaging public display at Abu Dhabi International Airport, supporting the Emirate’s social media push to promote the Abu Dhabi destination.
The impressive 20-meter long and 2.6-meter high 3D display has been placed along the airport exit road, en route to the city, and showcases the new #inAbuDhabi, encouraging residents and tourists alike to share their experience of the capital city on social media.
Abu Dhabi has witnessed significant growth in tourist numbers in the past few years, and is expecting further increase as iconic projects including museums and shopping destinations become available, enhancing its attractiveness to visitors.
Mouza Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director Marketing & Communications, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “This hashtag is easily recognizable and will help us manage online content better, nurture a larger audience discussion base, keep content lively and give the destination greater visibility in organic search engine results. The choice of Abu Dhabi International Airport is strategic for us: it is the gateway to the capital and will allow us to reach both visitors and residents and encourage them to tell us what makes their experience of the city so special.”
David Bourg, CEO Middle East of JCDecaux, said: "We are very pleased to collaborate with Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority for this innovative initiative that showcases the complementarity of outdoor and social media to create a unique brand experience. We believe the strong traffic growth witnessed at Abu Dhabi International Airport that is expected to welcome over 20 million passengers for the first time in 2014, makes the airport the ideal location to promote the many wonders of the emirate to an international audience. We are confident that this installation will create a buzz and will contribute to positioning Abu Dhabi as a major tourist destination.”
