Mashable: Let the festivities begin!
Jordan’s first royal marriage in decades is being celebrated in the grandest way.
According to The Associated Press, thousands of people have been seen waving the country’s flag at a sports stadium in Amman, where a free music concert was organised to celebrate the wedding of crown prince Hussein, 28, with Rajwa Alseif, 29, a Saudi architect.
Their marriage will take place at Zahran Palace in downtown Amman on Thursday. Reports also add the location was chosen by king Abdullah II, the prince’s father, and the late King Hussein, his grandfather.
The ceremony was announced following a few difficult news: a clash between the king and his half-brother, as well th ongoing economic challenges.
Taking an inspiration from the previous royal weddings, crown prince’s ceremony will include a motorcade of red Land Rovers escorting the couple throughout Amman once they get married.
The palace have revealed any other details, such as the guest list or what will the bride wear. However, the confirmed names includes Jill Biden, U.S. first lady, and several royals from around the world such as the king and queen of the Netherlands.
Officially, the celebrations began last week with a henna party for the bride, which was hosted by Queen Rania. Hundreds of women attended it, with it being celebrated with songs.
Alseif lived and worked in Los Angeles as an architecture. She is the daughter of one of the biggest engineering companies in Saudi, while her mother is also related to the country’s king Salman.
The free concert, which took place on Monday, was performedn by multiple Arab singers, including Egypt’s Tamer Hosny. During his performance, he walked through the crowd, while encourig them to sing along.
“For his excellency the beloved crown prince let’s hear a huge round of applause,” Hosny said during his set.
The last weeding occurred in 1993, when the then crown prince Abdullah married Rania, who worked in marketing. In 1999, after his father’s passing, the prince became king.
