Khawla Art and Cultural Foundation’s first exhibition ‘Unity in Diversity’ launched at Dubai Opera

The well-known cultural and arts centre — Khawla Art and Cultural Foundation launches its first exhibition ‘Unity in Diversity’ at Dubai Opera. The exhibition which will go on till October 12, features 41 artists who are showcasing their 54 artworks.

The Khawla Art and Cultural Foundation has been established by Her Highness Sheikha Khawla Bint Ahmed Bin Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, wife of HH Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s National Security Advisor. The foundation promotes public interest in classical arts of all kinds with special emphasis on the revival of Arabic calligraphy of all schools and trends.

The first day of the exhibition was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. Her attendance also coincided with the Foundation’s one year anniversary, which made it even more special.

As she visited the exhibition, she viewed the artworks created by Sheikha Khawla, as well as other artworks presented by artists from around the world, which included several paintings and sculptures.

Along with the artworks presented by the artists, the exhibition also has an exquisite collection of Her Highness Sheikha Khawla Bin Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi’s art pieces.

The exhibition, as the name suggests, features a wide range of artworks that combine ornamentation and calligraphy, as well as 54 artworks, syncing with the theme. The exhibition portrays various art movements and narrates stories on the beauty in diversity and tales of coexistence between civilisations.

The inauguration of the exhibition was also attended by Mohamed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, Agada Garba, Niger’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej, along with a number of visual artists and art connoisseurs.
