KSA And Cuba Explores Media Cooperation

The news agencies of Saudi Arabia (SPA) and Prensa Latina struck here on Monday a cooperation agreement to facilitate the flow of information between the two institutions.

Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique Gonzalez said the agreement falls within the agency's interest of establishing working relations with press media from around the world to help broaden readers' knowledge about the reality particularly of Latin America and Cuba.

For his part, Abdullah F. Al-Hussain, the SPA President, stressed this cooperation will contribute to a wider dissemination of news on current affairs and events in Saudi Arabia, as well as of Cuba and Latin America.

Prensa Latina that will turn 59 years next June 16 has today cooperation agreements with over 70 news agencies from around the world. Furthermore, it has correspondent offices in 40 countries.

Its main information activity is its world news service with emphasis on Latin American affairs, though it also serves photos, radio and television reports. Besides, it edits several journals and a news website.

SPA that will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary has over 30 domestic offices within Saudi Arabia and correspondent offices in eight countries.

Besides its news service in six languages it offers graphic service, as well as a very modern, state of the art conference center for congresses and meetings. It, too, hosts a news website.
