Written and directed by Lebanese filmmaker Dania Bdeir, the short film had its global premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
One of the prominent film festivals in the entertainment industry, the Sundance Film Festival 2022, this year is taking place online.
As the film festival continues to gather cinema lovers together, Lebanese short film ‘Warsha’ has made it to the festival’s premiere.
Written and directed by Lebanese filmmaker Dania Bdeir, the short film had its global premiere at the Sundance Film Festival recently, which is a part of the annual festival’s online programme until January 30.
The 15-minute-long film is a story about a Syrian crane operator in Beirut named Mohamed (played by Lebanese singer Khamsa). One morning he volunteers to take on one of the tallest and notoriously most dangerous cranes. Away from everyone’s eyes, he can live out his secret passion and find freedom.
The film will also be screened at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, which runs from January 28 to February 5, before it is set to make its Middle Eastern premiere later this year.
The film was also selected for the 2022 International Film Festival of Rotterdam.
Commenced on January 20 and going on till January 30, the film festival brings original storytellers and audiences seeking new voices and fresh perspectives. The annual program of the festival includes dramatic and documentary features and short films, series and episodic content, and New Frontier, showcasing emerging media in the form of multimedia installations, performances, and films.
