Lionel Messi netted his fastest goal in Argentina’s latest friendly match against Australia.
The Argentine captain is in Beijing, China, and played a friendly match against Australia on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
On Thursday, the 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning captain led his team Argentina to victory with the fastest goal of his entire career.
The 35-year-old’s opening goal for Argentina in a friendly against Australia was his first time to score inside two minutes of a match.
As per Goal, the Argentine captain netted a goal within 120 seconds and recorded a career milestone, making waves in the controversial match.
Besides Messi, Pezzella also scored in the second half of Argentina’s win in China.
While Messi was celebrating his fastest goal, a Chinese fan breached security and ran onto the pitch to give the Argentine captain a hug during the international friendly.
The star player reportedly got hugged by the overexcited fan who was wearing a No. 10 shirt in the second half of the game.
The video of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner getting surprised by the fan's gesture is going viral on social media.
However, the viral video also shows the pitch invader giving Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez a high-five.
Meanwhile, a video of a man wearing an Al Nassr jersey to the Argentina-Australia friendly game and doing a CR7 celebration is also doing rounds on the internet.
Now, Argentina is set to play against Indonesia in Jakarta on Monday, June 19, 2023. However, it is reported that Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, and Nicolas Otamendi will not be a part of the game.
