Since its posting, the video has garnered more than 10 million views and over 80,000 likes. Although the video is currently trending, it was actually filmed last month and initially shared on TikTok by Emoinu Oinam. In the clip, Oinam takes viewers on a walk around Conche, Newfoundland, where the iceberg was sighted. The video went viral and was later reposted on Oinam's Instagram account.
National Geographic explains that icebergs that drift towards the coast of Newfoundland typically originate from Greenland's glaciers, breaking off into the sea before floating towards Canada's eastern shores. The region along the east coast of Newfoundland and Labrador is aptly known as ‘Iceberg Alley’, and in recent years, the size of these icebergs appears to be increasing.
In addition to the initial viral clip, Oinam shares more videos, including a stunning drone shot, to provide viewers with a comprehensive view of the awe-inspiring icy structure.
While viewers were mesmerized by the iceberg's beauty, some expressed concerns about its potential dangers. The proximity of the iceberg to coastal houses raised speculation about the occupants' surprise at the impressive sight. Others playfully likened the scene to a perfect backdrop for a thrilling horror movie.
