Mashable: Employees across all departments are using the AI chatbot to automate monotonous tasks and accelerate work.
Genies, a billion-dollar avatar tools company favored by celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Cardi B, is creating waves with its CEO's most recent move. To increase efficiency and cut costs, Akash Nigam has been spending $2,400 monthly on ChatGPT Plus subscriptions for each of the company's 120 employees.
Insider reports that despite the substantial cost, Nigam is optimistic that implementing ChatGPT into his teams' operations will boost the company's bottom line. He thinks the AI chatbot will help cut down on staffing requirements because it can handle repetitive jobs automatically.
Since March, Nigam has pushed for all departments (R&D, Engineering, Products, Finance, Design, and Accounting) to familiarize themselves using ChatGPT in order to increase productivity. Nigam has seen numerous projects get moved forward despite it only being a month since the employees obtained their accounts.
The R&D group, for instance, has used ChatGPT to solve math and coding problems, obtain help with debugging, and create presentation scripts from outlines. It has also been utilized by other staff members to brainstorm ideas for projects, draft legal documents like corporate regulations, and research technological issues.
Nigam claims that the technology roadmap that his team developed using ChatGPT was crucial to the success of their product launch. In the past, coming up with a strategy involved a lot of back-and-forth amongst coworkers and took a lot of time. Instead, Nigam used ChatGPT by providing all relevant data, instructing the AI to chart the data and assign jobs accordingly.
It's almost like you have the most sophisticated operating partner at your disposal, he said, which is able to quickly center your thoughts and ensure that you're consistently on track.
Nigam said that while most workers are "diving in headfirst" with ChatGPT, some are "passively integrating it into their workflows." Genies has been organizing unofficial workshops where more experienced staff show their less experienced colleagues how to use the AI to complete various jobs.
Nigam is of the opinion that in order for his organization to realize the benefits of lower workloads and staff, everyone must be on board with adopting ChatGPT. Next year, he aims to incorporate ChatGPT usage into employee performance assessments, rewarding those who are "using AI effectively" with raises and promotions while penalizing those who aren't.
Genies aren't the only company incorporating ChatGPT into its workflow. Recently a study found that ChatGPT helped deliver faster and more empathetic response than a doctor during a medical observation. ChatGPT is a useful tool for businesses who want to optimize their processes because of its capacity to automate operations, deliver fast answers, and increase productivity.
Nigam's expenditure on ChatGPT Plus accounts for his staff may appear high at first glance, but he is confident that the payoff will be worthwhile. Genies may devote more resources to creating cutting-edge avatar technologies that continue to enthrall audiences around the world and free up the time of existing workers in the process.
