Mashable: It was brutal.
Prince Harry and Megan Markle were once on friendly terms with power couple Victoria and David Beckham but their relationship turned sour overtime, details House of Beckham, the biographical book by Tom Bower. According to the author, the Duchess of Sussex ordered Prince Harry to snub the legendary footballer at the Invictus Games in 2018. David, who felt puzzled and disappointed over Megan’s move, reportedly took revenge for the insult almost four years later.
The Invictus Games is a sport event celebrating wounded, injured, and sick service people. In 2018, when David Beckham was in attendance at the Sydney-based event, he found himself perplexed over Harry’s behavior, feeling lonely a tad bit. He supposedly couldn’t fathom why the officials were trying to keep him away from the Duke of Sussex.
David was disappointed to learn “the prince had ordered that under no circumstances was the footballer to be allowed near him.” It is suggested even clicking photographs with the royal family member was forbidden for the footballer. It was later that he learned the “exclusion” order where Harry refused to meet him was reportedly issued by Megan. “She did not want any competition in the media from Beckham, and especially not from his wife Victoria,” claimed the author.
David felt so oblivious with Megan’s action that he did not forget the event and subsequently sought revenge four years later. The book suggests the footballer flew from Qatar to Boston to join Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate for the launch of royals’ environmental Earthshot prize in 2022. On the same day, Harry and Meghan sought to wow Americans at an event in New York. “Inevitably the Sussexes were overshadowed by the constellation [of celebrities] in Boston. Beckham had got his revenge for the Sydney snub,” the book suggests.
It is important to note neither the Duke and Duchess of Sussex nor David Beckham has made a public comment over the royal snub.
