Mashable: The couple no longer has an official UK residence.
Meghan Markle has reportedly one condition for returning to the UK with her kids and it isn’t about security concerns. Previously, in an explosive interview for ITV’s documentary Tabloids on Trials, Prince Harry publicly discussed pursuing lawsuits against the press over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts. The Duke of Sussex claimed negative press reports against Meghan Markle was the major reason why he won’t bring his wife to the UK
But now in an interview with The Mirror, Royal author and expert Tom Quinn, claimed, “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives.”
This comes after Harry said the negative press has incited tremendous fear for the safety of his family. He previously pointed, “Look at what has happened in the last four years to me, my wife, and my family, right?” The Duke of Sussex added, “It’s still dangerous. And all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read... and whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is. And these are things that are a genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
It was in 2020 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave away their royal titles and stepped back from their roles as working members of the British royal family. Since then they’ve relocated to Markle’s home country in California, USA.
After relocating, Prince Harry has returned to his home country multiple times, including his visit for King Charles’ coronation in 2023. However, the Duchess of Sussex has limited her visits with her last appearance in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Meghan has also publicly spoken about being unable to defend herself in the British homeland against media intrusion during her royal tenure.
