Mashable: Mark Zuckerberg-owned company Meta has introduced a video editing feature to Meta AI. With this feature in action, users will be able to edit videos “using a variety of preset AI prompts.” Notably, the feature only allows for editing short, 10-second videos. The feature is available for immediate use on the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, and the Edits app, but availability is currently limited to the U.S. and 12 other countries.
The feature leverages AI to transform aspects such as outfit, location, style, and more in videos. Meta stated that the feature is inspired by Movie Gen, its proprietary text-to-video generation model. “This new feature is just the first step toward our goal of bringing you AI video generation and editing across our apps and products,” Meta stated in its blog.
The tech giant claims that Meta AI will enable users to edit videos with just text prompts. However, this capability is not yet available and is expected to launch later this year.
To edit videos using the feature, users need to upload a video to one of these three platforms: the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, or the Edits app. After uploading, users can choose from 50 presets to edit their video in a particular style. Meta highlighted a few styles, including one that transforms videos into a graphic novel and another that gives them a gaming-inspired look, complete with fluorescent lighting and battle clothing.
Users on Edits or the Meta AI app will be able to share their edited videos directly on Facebook or Instagram.
“We built this feature so that everyone can experiment creatively and make fun, interesting videos to share with their friends, family, and followers. Whether you’re reimagining a favorite family memory or finding new ways to entertain your audience, our video editing feature can help. We also think it can transform the way creators make content on our platforms, so we worked with creators to understand which prompts would appeal to their audiences. Because our video editing feature is built into the Edits app, it can become a seamless part of the creative process,” the company said in its blog post.
