Featuring 10 different time zones and over 60 exhibits, the aquarium houses 45,000 animals and takes about two hours to complete.
The wait to get the region’s largest aquarium is over as Abu Dhabi opened its doors to the National Aquarium, on Friday. Located within the Rabdan Area, the National Aquarium is one of the 11 anchors found within Al Qana.
Mirroring various marine habitats from across the globe, the aquarium features a gigantic and diverse array of animals and animal-related activities to visitors from around the world.
Iconic species like the world-famous Super Snake believed to be the longest reptile on display in the world, along with a large school of Hammerhead sharks, an Asian Water Monitor Lizard and many other hero creatures are being boused in the aquarium.
Featuring 10 different time zones and over 60 exhibits, the aquarium houses 45,000 animals and takes about two hours to complete. Some of the interesting sections of the museum include the Bu Tinah section—a microcosm of Abu Dhabi’s Bu Tinah Island, a protected and private nature reserve inaccessible to visitors.
Built using video mapping technology and signage guides on your device, the attraction is expected to quickly take its place among the world’s best aquariums.
In addition to its vast biodiversity, the National Aquarium boasts an array of unforgettable experiences including the glass bottom dhow tours and personal animal encounters with sharks, puffins, and a variety of other fascinating species.
Sightseers can fully immerse themselves during their visits and can also experience scuba diving with one of the most diverse collections of sharks and rays on earth is also available.
The National Aquarium had been in the making for years and its opening couldn’t have been at a better timing as the UAE celebrates the 50th anniversary.
