Mashable: Saudi Arabia has unveiled designs for a hi-tech Mohammad bin Salman stadium

Saudi Arabia is planning to build the world’s only high-tech clifftop stadium amid the country’s 2034 World Cup bid.

Saudi Arabia has recently unveiled a “futuristic” plan for the new Prince Mohammad bin Salman Stadium.

According to Khaleej Times, Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) of Saudi Arabia announced the launch of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium on Monday, January 15, 2024.

The futuristic Prince Mohammed bin Salman stadium, a multi-use venue in Qiddiya City is set to enhance the city’s philosophy of the Power of Play. The high-tech stadium will host some of the biggest sports, entertainment, and cultural events of the Gulf nation, after completion.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman stadium is set to be built in Qiddiya City atop the 200m-high Tuwaiq cliff. It will be just 40 minutes from Riyadh and is expected to become a must-visit destination in the region.

The venue aims to draw fans and visitors from all over the globe and revolutionize the traditional stadium experience with its immersive futuristic design and unique technological features.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the stadium is set to be the world’s first “fully integrated venue” with a combined retractable roof, pitch, and LED wall. This architectural innovation will offer unparalleled versatility and allow the venue to transform into various “event modes” in a matter of hours.

Guests and visitors will be able to enjoy multiple spectacles in one day, including football, e-sports, boxing, concerts, as well as theatre performances. The stadium is designed by Populous, a leading global architectural firm.

The stadium will house cutting-edge technology to give fans instant access to live data and information. It will use state-of-the-art holographic technology which will enable virtual interactions with celebrities and stars.

Meanwhile, the unveiling of the stadium follows the launch of the world-first multi-use Gaming & Esports District in Qiddiya City.
