Publicis UK has restructured its management team, promoting Karen Buchanan to chairman and Nick Farnhill to chief executive of Publicis London. Buchanan and Farnhill will continue to report to Guy Wieynk, chief executive of Publicis UK and western Europe, and global lead of Sapient Inside.
Charlie Snow, the veteran chief strategy officer at MullenLowe Group UK, is leaving after 17 years. Jo Arden, head of strategy at 23red, will replace Snow following a handover period over the next few months.
Mindshare has promoted chief commercial officer Joanna Lyall to be the media agency's first UK managing director in four years. Ita Murphy left Mindshare as managing director in 2013 after 12 years with the agency and went on to join News UK.
Separately, Mindshare has hired programmatic consultant Liz Salway to run the Mindshare Worldwide UK programmatic team as head of programmatic. Adam Ray, the previous incumbent in the role, has been promoted to the newly-created global position of head of programmatic.
Marc Zander, global media director for Mars Chocolate, has joined video advertising marketplace Teads, as its global vice-president of client partnerships.
Karmarama is creating a triumvirate of executive creative directors. Brian Williams joins from The Martin Agency London where he was deputy ECD. He will work alongside the agency’s current ECD Adam Kean and Dickie Connell, who has been promoted from deputy ECD.
Ogilvy & Mather London has hired four planners following its recent appointment to the Boots UK, Vodafone and Bulmers accounts. Elaine Miller joins from Adam & Eve/DDB as strategy director, while Ed Hayne joins in the same role from Bartle Bogle Hegarty. Abbi Wolffe and Charlotte Walters, from Mother London and McCann London respectively, complete the new quartet.
Gary Kibble will join Sainsbury's-owned Argos as marketing director from Mothercare where he is currently global brand and marketing director. He replaces Stephen Vowles who was marketing director for Argos until the retailer was acquired by Sainsbury’s last year.
Andrew Marsden, the former Britvic marketing director, has launched a brand activation agency called Pilgrim Marketing. Already working with the Champagne Lanson, Hofmeister, The National Gallery and Pipers Crisps, the Pilgrim senior team includes senior industry executives including Jim Sewell, Toby Moore, Laura Auchterlonie and Rob Waddington.
Dom Goldman, one of Grey London's executive creative directors, has left the agency. Goldman joined Grey in March 2015 as deputy executive creative director and was promoted to ECD that November,
Rewind, a VR production company that has worked with Red Bull, Rolls Royce and Sony, has hired Tom Fenwick-Smith as its new creative director. Fenwick-Smith most recently worked at Publicis Groupe-owned integrated digital agency Poke London as a senior creative.
Quiet Storm has hired Daniel Healy as production director, a role that also sees him join the board. Healy was most recently at Leagas Delaney, where he was head of content.
Digital sports content and media group Perform has named Ed Smith as head of partnerships. Ed Smith, was nabbed from the Telegraph Media Group where he was of head of brand advertising.
ReFUEL4, the ad creative management platform, has appointed Ross Sheil as general manager commercial, EMEA. He was a founding member of Twitter EMEA from 2012 to 2017 and most recently held the role of head of mobile.
8 Outdoor, the UK’s digital out-of-home media owner, has appointed Alan Brydon as chairman. The appointment comes as three new senior roles are also confirmed. Kanjeev Sikka joins as strategic business director, Tania Doorn joins as head of direct sales and Rob Smith is appointed development director.
The Evening Standard has appointed David Tomchak as digital director, editorial. Tomchak joins from 10 Downing Street, where he led digital marketing and communications for the prime minister and Cabinet Office, and served as deputy director to the Government Communications Service. He will take up the role in May and report to Zach Leonard, MD digital.
MC&C, the independent media performance agency, has named David McDermott director of digital. McDermott was previously chief operating officer at Harvest Digital, and has held positions at 77Agency Ltd, 7thingsmedia Ltd and the Arcadia Group.
Leeds integrated communications agency CreativeRace has appointed Steve Rowe as design director. He joined from Manchester-based Agency Spring, where he was creative director. Rowe will report to chairman Gordon Bethell, and replaces Dan Lindley, who joined Brandhouse in December as creative communications director.
