Amidst all the sustainable developments in Dubai, the region gets a new eco-friendly place of worship, paving a way towards a more sustainable future.

The new eco-friendly mosque, located in Hatta was inaugurated by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently.

The place of worship conserves about 26.5 percent of energy and 55 percent of water and at present, solar photovoltaic panels are being installed in the mosque, which also features a water treatment unit to reuse water for irrigation and cleaning.

In order to ensure top-level air quality by using an air purification device, DEWA ensured that the highest international standards were followed.

The worship house that can accommodate 600 worshippers in an area of 1,050 square meters was constructed using various recycled materials.

Talking about the sustainable mosque, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA shared, “Inaugurating the world’s first mosque to receive the platinum rating for green buildings by the Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design in Hatta, is part of DEWA’s efforts to support the comprehensive and sustainable development plan of Hatta and meet the needs of its social, economic and environmental development.”

The newly constructed mosque comprises a 25-meter-high minaret, car and motor bicycle parking, facilities for People of Determination, and a green charger station and conserves around 26.5% of energy and 55% of water.
The eco-friendly mosque has been built in accordance with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which outlines an integrated roadmap for urban development based on sustainable development to make Dubai the world’s best place to live.
