Information obtained through the satellites will be analysed to boost preventive maintenance at charging stations and smart grids.

Tech transformation of local administrative bodies in Emirati cities like Dubai is the key for these urban spaces to develop a smart infrastructure for the future, and everything from AI to satellite tech as well as cloud storage is being deployed by organisations that manage traffic, power and water in connected ecosystems. Dubai's municipality had enhanced its capabilities earlier this year by bringing in AI to boost the drainage system, agriculture and waste management in the city, alongside the launch of a satellite which is now sending back updates about air pollution and climate change.

As the UAE now assembles its second homegrown satellite after entering the global space race with its Mars mission, its neighbours like Bahrain and Kuwait have recently sent out smaller cube satellites, that'll support students learning about the cosmos back on Earth. Known for using smart meters and robotic employees to serve residents of Dubai, the city's water and electricity authority DEWA has now inked a pact with a firm to launch two nanosatellites, which'll propel its operations forward through use of thermal imaging.

By capturing accurate visuals which can be analysed via AI, the mechanical moons to be deployed by Nanoavionics will facilitate preventive maintenance of smart power grids, the network of EV charging stations and an infrastructure for production as well as distribution of electricity. Home to the world's larges solar park, Dubai will also be able to receive updates about solar power stations thanks to thermal imaging provided by the two satellites, which will be created as part of the collaboration.

Transmission lines and buildings will also be scanned for thermal fingerprints through high resolution devices on the satellites, that'll be at par with those used by any major spacecraft. As the mechanical moons will relay images back to DEWA officials on Earth, the cosmic system will also allow the organisation to train Emirati professionals for using space tech efficiently.
