Former President Barack Obama got in the Christmas spirit over the weekend, sending good tidings to his Twitter followers in the form of an Obama family photo.
The former first family posed for a Christmas photo that featured an appearance from Obama, along with Michelle, Malia, and Sasha all donning festive formal wear. Also posing for the photo were a couple of young children dressed as Santa's little helpers. The photo was captioned with a sweet message for followers reading: "On behalf of the Obama family, Merry Christmas! We wish you joy and peace this holiday season."
Following the post, many on Twitter quickly took to Obama's mentions, letting the family know that they are missed in the White House. Some responded with praise and thanks to the former president, noting how "grateful" the United States is for his service, while others declared that "America misses your family." One Twitter user even asked for the president to "come back." Of course, a few users pointed out in jest that the tweet wished users a "Merry Christmas," a phrase which President Donald Trump took credit for in a Christmas Eve tweet.
The tweet appears to be quite popular, as Elle reported that the picture received 200,000 more retweets than Donald Trump's Christmas message. Nearly nine years after he first became president, it's clear that the Obama family remains beloved by many.
