The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, through its security arm, the Security Department, is keen to compliance local and international security with standards and policies and Procedures in the provision of its services at Dubai ports and associated facilities, including the implementation of the provisions and standards listed in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code to ensure strict compliance with regulations and policies, and to provide maximum security and safety in their  affiliated areas.

“As the opening date of Expo 2020 Dubai approaches, the corporation has taken the necessary security procedures to provide a secure logistical line linking the Jabal Ali port and the free zone to the site of Expo 2020, to facilitate and speed the safe and smooth transit of all materials, supplies and goods of the participating parties in this event through electronic and smart cargo gates that operate around the clock,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem - Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.

Bin Sulayem  pointed out that the Security Department worked on developing intensive operational plans and programs to raise security standards and services to unprecedented levels, through strengthening the security system inside Dubai World Ports - the Emirates Region and the Jebel Ali-Jafza Free Zone, as part of its goals to achieve the highest level of preparedness in line with the size of this unique and largest event worldwide, and to reflect the determination of the wise leadership to achieve the highest levels of readiness to ensure the optimal security of the global event.

Bin Sulayem said that the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation worked on developing the latest technologies and smart applications, which will achieve the highest safety standards and security systems for ships, port facilities and free zones under its affiliate. Pointing out its plans to accompany the initiative of transforming Dubai into the smartest city in the world, and its aim to reflect the government's vision of the transition to a knowledge-based economy by utilization and development of smart technologies and applications in the provision of its services, as well as the application of security agreements and legislation that guarantee stability in the Dubai’s maritime sector, and strengthening the global leadership of UAE.

Bin Sulayem added that the Security Department provides 28 services around the clock, the most important of which is issuing permits for customers and visitors to ports and free zones through the Dubai Commercial Portal. In addition of delegation and VIP escort services. The Security Department is responsible for enforcing security standards in all DP World facilities and the free zones. It also works along with UAE government ‘s entities and authorities and represents the corporation in many national and international events and forums.

The Security Department is also responsible for the regulator and direct responsible for activating security standards in all Dubai International Ports and free zones facilities, in addition to joint cooperation with government agencies and bodies in the state, ad representing the Institution in many local and international events and forums, and other services related to strengthening security aspects.

According to the latest statistics, the Security Department, has issued 14 million permits for vehicles to enter the free zones in Dubai during the first half of 2021. The corporation operates 22 gates distributed over 4 zones in Dubai, which controls the entry and exit of various types of vehicles to the ports and free zones supervised by the corporation, and specialised security staffs in these gates, comprising more than 120 security men working around the clock.
