Robotic automation is acknowledged widely as a popular source to be used in various sectors of the industry. The growing popularity of robotic automation across a wide range of sectors looks set to continue over the next few years, as businesses look to take advantage of the many benefits it offers.

Imagine a robot doing some of the major tasks of managers like using data to evaluate problems, making better decisions, monitoring team performance, and even setting goals.

Technology is playing a pivotal role in helping humans work more effectively. Since automation has become an integral part of business operations, we can predict that robots are soon going to replace many jobs that are today performed by humans. Now that the corporate world is also on the verge of entering the robotic age, let’s see what pros and cons this technology offers business world.

It’s quiet natural that everyone has been convinced of the advantages robotic automation can deliver. There is still some cautiousness about adapting an existing production line, with some reasonable objections posed by those yet to try the technology.  For any new technology there can be advantages and disadvantages . While considering robotics it has many advantages over human labour.  This benefits can help the production industry in the long run.

Advantages

The increase in production at a lower cost produces obvious benefits for any manufacturer who use robotic application. The cost of investment can be recovered in a relatively short space of time and the gains from that point onwards are exponential to say the least.

Using robotic automation to tackle repetitive tasks makes complete sense. Robots are designed to make repetitive movements. Humans, also by design, are not.

According to data available there are around 12 million robotic units worldwide in 2020. Robotics has already got  about 150,000 people employed worldwide in engineering and assembly jobs. Between 2020 and 2022, there would be a 12% increase in shipments of robots worldwide. 88% of businesses worldwide plan to adopt robotic automation into their infrastructure.

 Disadvantages

Humans just can’t compete with a robot that can work 24/7 without making any mistakes. That fact can force people out of jobs they’ve done their entire lives.

Also electricity consumption is on the higher side which makes  them expensive to run and potentially damaging to the environment. Unless we shift over to greener sources of energy, the growing demand for robots in society could lead to additional issues with global warming and greenhouse gas emissions.

Humans are still considered far more efficient than robots when it comes to decision making powers, handling difficult situations, brainstorming, and generally bringing a sense of emotion and empathy into a workplace.

The utilization of robots will bring more technological advancements and profit to certain industries. However, according to the research, we cannot expect a higher level of intelligence than humans.Till the time the robots are unable to reach the level of human intelligence or to rationalize the situation, humans will still have a vital role in every workplace.  Besides, you cannot rule out the significant role of humans in a business. After all, no machine can replace the human factor ‘real employees’ bring into a workplace.
